Marikina cops nab suspected ‘akyat-bahay’
MANILA, Philippines — The solemnity of the Holy Week did not deter an alleged “akyat bahay” who was nabbed in Marikina City during the wee hours of Good Friday.
The suspect, identified by police as 41-year-old Alex De Guzman, tried to flee from authorities who caught him tuning the lights on inside a house along Tandang Sora St. in Barangay Parang around 1:30 a.m.
Marikina City Police Station and Police Community Precinct 5 officers arrested De Guzman, who yielded a knife, an improvised plastic card, flashlight, three screwdrivers, and an adjustable wrench.
The suspect is currently detained at the police station and may face charges for violation of the Omnibus Election Code as well as resistance and disobedience upon an agent or person in authority, police said. /kga
