MPD bares ‘stop and go’ traffic scheme for Easter Sunday procession

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) alerted motorists for its “stop and go” traffic scheme that will be implemented on Easter Sunday for Quiapo Church’s “Salubong” procession.

In an advisory on Friday, MPD’s traffic enforcement unit said the procession at 12 midnight on Sunday will follow this route:

From Quezon Boulevard (Southbound), turn right to Palanca St.,  turn right  to Villalobos St., thru Plaza Miranda.

From Evangelista St., turn right to G. Puyat St., turn right to Quezon Blvd. (Southbound) turn right to Plaza Miranda.

Motorists are urged to take alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic, MPD said.

The Salubong is an Easter Sunday tradition that features the meeting between Jesus Christ and His mother, the Virgin Mary, following His resurrection from the dead more than 2,000 years ago. /jpv
