Man trips from motorbike, ends up arrested for gun possession in Caloocan
MANILA, Philippines — Bad luck befell a 38-year-old man who, after tripping from his motorcycle, ended up arrested by police for carrying an unlicensed firearm in Caloocan City on Good Friday.
According to the Northern Police District, police officers were patrolling along Camarin Road, Barangay 170 Nova Ville around 3 a.m. when they chanced on Alfredo Francisco, who accidentally fell from his motorcycle.
They approached Francisco to help him get up. But authorities noticed the gun in Francisco’s grey sling bag that also fell when he tripped from his motorcycle.
When police asked Francisco for the firearm’s papers, Francisco failed to present any gun license.
So Francisco was instead collared and placed under the custody of the Caloocan police station after getting treatment from the hospital for wounds he sustained from his motorcycle accident.
Police said Francisco will be charged for violating Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition in relation to the gun ban under the Omnibus Election Code. /kga
