MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Thursday that it will conduct a parallel investigation with the Marilao Police Station about a police officer who was abducted in Barangay Loma de Gato, Marilao, Bulacan.
According to QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel, the investigation is aimed at knowing the motive behind the abduction of P/Cpl. Glenn Stuart Manila, 36, from Barangay Jose in Caloocan City on Wednesday.
“The parallel investigation by QCPD is to help identify and establish the motive of the suspects. The family of the victim will be informed on the development of the case,” Esquivel said.
Manila is currently assigned to the Batasan Police Station’s Warrant and Subpoena Section. He entered the police service in 2008.
Reports from Marilao police said that on Wednesday afternoon, an abandoned red Yamaha MXI motorcycle was discovered near the Puregold Supermarket branch in Loma de Gato. It was turned over by barangay officials to authorities.
Investigators said that the motorcycle was owned by a certain Jenelyn Manila, who said that her husband, the missing police officer, was the one who drove it.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage near the area showed that while P/Cpl. Manila was making a transaction at an automated teller machine, he was forcibly taken by a group of individuals aboard two vans with unidentified plate numbers.
Esquivel asked anyone who has any information about the case or regarding Manila’s whereabouts to contact QCPD through these numbers: 09178611870, 921-5267, 925-8417, and 436-1173. /je
