DAVAO CITY — Six people died in a fire that engulfed a house in Maco town, Compostela Valley early on Maundy Thursday, a disaster official said.
Randy Loy, Compostela Valley provincial disaster action officer, said the incident happened around 4 a.m. at Adecor compound, Barangay Poblacion.
Loy said the victims were initially identified as Carmen, Ian and Janjan, all surnamed Bilucora, and a still unidentified six-month-old infant, as well as two others.
Quoting an initial report from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Loy said the victims were not able to get out of the burning house as most of its windows were enclosed in iron grills.
He said the Bilucora family was renting the house.
An investigation into the incident was ongoing, Loy said.
