MANILA, Philippines — The solemnity of the Lenten season won’t hamper President Rodrigo Duterte from carrying out his duties, if needed.

This was the assurance of Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles as the government goes on a Holy Week break for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

“There’s always a skeletal force and even the President is in Davao City, he is always joined by the PMS (Presidential Management Staff),” Nograles said in a media forum on Wednesday.

“If he is needed, he can go to Malacañang. He can (also) operate from Davao. It’s not a problem,” he added.

Earlier, Malacañang said Duterte would be spending the Holy Week with his family in his hometown Davao City like in previous years.
