Part of Quezon Boulevard to be closed for Good Friday procession

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) announced on Thursday that part of Quezon Boulevard would be closed in the afternoon of Good Friday to make way for Quiapo Church’s procession of Santo Entierro and Mater Dolorosa.

In an advisory on Maundy Thursday, MPD said the North bound lane of Quezon Boulevard, from Quezon Bridge to G. Puyat Street will be closed to motorists from 4 p.m. onwards on Friday.

With this, all vehicles traveling northbound of P. Burgos Avenue and Taft Avenue may go straight to MacArthur and Jones Bridge to their destination.

The MPD said it would also implement a “stop and go” traffic scheme for the procession.

The procession seeks to remember the burial of Jesus Christ which features the image of Sto. Entierro or Dead Christ and the Mater Dolorosa or Sorrowful Mother. /cbb
