TUGUEGARAO CITY — President Duterte said it would be “useless” seeking God’s forgiveness and repeat his sins every day, adding that he had shun attending Masses.
“Kaya ako hindi nagsisimba. Kasi ‘pag magsimba ako, ‘Forgive me, father, for I have killed last night three.’ Balik na naman ako kinabukasan, ‘Father, forgive me because I have killed 10 drug lords.’ Eh pabalik-balik ako, bakit pa ako magpunta doon? Useless eh,” he said in a PDP-Laban campaign rally here on Tuesday.
Duterte went on to unleash his tirades against Catholic priests and criticizing the teachings.
“Kung atakihin mo ako, huwag mong atakihin ako sa Simbahan. Huwag mo — kang gumamit ng pulpito sabihin mo, ‘Si Duterte demonyo. Pinapatay niya ‘yung mga masasamang…’ Eh alam mo %&*^$#@ may giyera. I have declared war. ‘Pag hindi, matalo ang bayan ko,” he said.
Pointing out the separation of the Church and State, Duterte said he lamented the continuous attacks of priests through the pulpit.
“‘Yung pari dapat huwag mong gamitin ang simbahan. Kung ito ang simbahan, pulpito ito, lumabas ka because there is a separation of Church and State. Hindi lahat tao Katoliko. May mga Muslim. May mga Protestante, may Jehovah. Huwag mong gamitin ang simbahan kasi ‘pag resbak ko, tatamaan talaga ang simbahan. Yan ang ibig kong sabihin. Lahat sa tamang panahon, sa tamang lugar. ‘Di ka basta-basta bira diyan [nang] bira. Be on the right place, on the right time, with the right issue. But you cannot be saying na dahil pari ka,” he said.
The President said the alleged abuses of priests as recently noted by Pope Francis are testaments that he did not lie on the issue.
He also questioned anew the presence of heaven and hell, saying: “Kayo ba naniwala ng hell, ng heaven? Eh kung naniwala kayo ng heaven and hell ah… Anong heaven and hell?”
He, however, said he preferred to go to hell, claiming that beautiful and sexy-bodied women belong there and not in heaven.
“Oh ngayon papiliin mo ako. Saan gusto kong pumunta? Sa impiyerno. Bakit? Tingnan mo kung sino ‘yang nasa langit. ‘Yung mga — ‘yung madre na may kasalanan wala na ‘yon kasi ginamit ng pari. ‘Yung mga mababait na tao,” he said. /lzb
