Eastern Samar gov dies
TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Samar Gov. Conrado Nicart Jr. died on Tuesday afternoon due to a lingering illness. He was 70.
Eastern Samar Provincial administrator George Erroba said Nicart passed away at 1:15 p.m. at the Makati Medical Center in Makati City where he had been confined for over a year due to a debilitating ailment.
He left behind his wife, Thelma, mayor of San Policarpo town and four children.
His son, Conrado Nicart III is vice mayor of San Policarpo and is running for congressman in the lone congressional district of Eastern Samar.
Nicart Jr. was elected governor of Eastern Samar in 2010 and won another term in 2016.

Then vice governor Marcelo Ferdinand Picardal assumed the post as acting governor in September 2017.
