After conquering the Air21 Express last week, Cebu’s basketball pride, the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños, will gun for a much bigger prize today when they take on crowd darling, James Yap and the rest of the BMEG Derby Ace Llamados in an exhibition game at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Niños vanquished the visiting Express, 81-76, in their game last weekend as the reigning Liga Pilipinas national champions banked on their depth and balanced scoring to pull out the hard-earned win. Now, the Niños want more of the pie when they face off against the league MVP, Yap, who will bring with him a squad chockfull of talent.
Also playing will be Cebuano guard Roger Yap who used to ply his wares for the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the defunct CAAA. The rest of the team is composed of KG Canaleta, Peter June Simon, Jonas Villanueva, Rico Maierhoffer, Rafi Reavis, Rommel Adducul, Pong Escobal, Marc Pingris, Jerwin Gaco, Kerby Raymundo, Jondan Salvador, Don Allado and import, Courtney Beasley. The Llamados will also play against the Mandaue-Cebu Landmasters/RDAK tomorrow at 6 p.m, at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
