MANILA, Philippines—President Rodrigo Duterte will decide whether or not to fire officials of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Chairman (MWSS) after the Holy Week over the recent water supply shortage that affected parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Duterte initially said that he will decide on the fate of MWSS officials before April 15, but he decided to move the announcement to a later date, April 22, to further “reflect” on the incident, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Wednesday.
“April 22 nalang (daw). Magre-reflect muna siya,” Nograles said in a forum.
“It will give him a chance also to study everything. ‘Yung dating April 15, April 22 na po,” he added.
Duterte met with MWSS officials last month where he expressed his dismay over the water supply interruptions.

Over the weekend, the President criticized MWSS anew for being unprepared for the dry spell.
“MWSS. Anak ka ng p***, [every year] may El Niño. Bakit hindi ninyo napaghandaan? Hindi pa nga dumating ang El Niño wala nang tubig. P***** i**,” Duterte said in a speech in Malaybalay City in Bukidnon. /jpv
