Dogs help secure Araneta bus terminal
MANILA, Philippines — Dogs are helping secure a bus terminal in Quezon amid the influx of passengers traveling to the provinces.
At least five dogs from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) were spotted on Tuesday roaming around the Araneta bus terminal and helping authorities check the luggage of passengers.
Before passengers board their respective buses, dogs would sniff their luggage for possible objects that are prohibited by law such as bombs or drugs, according to Araneta Terminal’s General Manager Ramon Legaspi.
“So far wala namang nairereport pa (So far none has been confiscated yet),” he said in an interview with INQUIRER.net.
According to Legaspi, the passenger volume at the terminal has reached an average of 6,000 passengers daily since Friday, and this may continue to increase.
Legaspi also noted that the bus terminal recorded a 10 percent increase in passenger volume during the Holy Week compared to last year. /ee
