Light to moderate traffic on expressways on Holy Tuesday
MANILA, Philippines – Motorisrs are advised to expect light to moderate traffic on the major expressways on Holy Tuesday, authorities said.
Robin Ignacio, traffic management and safety head of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), said expressways are not yet experiencing heavy traffic flow.
“Sa mga oras na ito, wala pa po tayong namomonitor na pagdagsa ng mga kababayan nating pauwi ng norte,” Ignacio said in an interview over dzMM.
“Mabilis pa rin po ang daloy ng trapiko natin,” he added.
Despite the slight traffic buildup at the Mindanao toll plaza, all other toll plazas are experiencing light traffic and short queues, Ignacio said.
Meanwhile, an official of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway said that expressways are still in “normal mode” and that light to moderate traffic is to be expected.
“Basically, nasa normal mode pa rin tayo, nagkakaroon tayo ng minsan na may pagdagsa pero hindi pa rin ho lumalampas. Nasa light to moderate traffic pa rin tayo,” Tony Reyes, manager of marketing and business development head of SLEX and TPLEX, said.
“So the past few days, even nung weekends, lahat naman po manageable. so okay pa naman po bumiyahe,” he added.
In the Manila–Cavite Expressway (Cavitex), a “normal” traffic flow and volume could still be observed as of Tuesday.
“Sa ngayon po, ang sitwasyon ng traffic natin dito sa Cavitex ay normal flow,” Carlo Hipol, traffic control officer of Cavitex, said.
“Bale ‘yung road sections na papuntang Manila at saka ‘yung papunta ng Cavite and Bacoor, bale normal po yung volume,” he added.
The volume of motorists using the expressways is expected to increase on Wednesday afternoon, the officials said. /muf
