LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested four persons who tested positive for drug use in a surprise drug test conducted in different bus terminals in the Bicol region Monday.
“We were able to nab two bus drivers of a renowned bus company whose urine (samples) turned positive due to illegal drugs while the other one (arrested) is a dispatcher,” Christian Frivaldo, PDEA Bicol acting chief, said.
The surprise drug test was conducted at the Albay bus terminal here at around 11 a.m.
Frivaldo said another bus driver stationed at Naga City’s central bus terminal was also arrested in a separate drug testing Monday.
The suspects will face drug charges, he added.
PDEA’s Bicol acting chief said they conducted “Oplan Huli Week” in coordination with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to ensure that passengers are safe while traveling during the observation of the Holy Week. /ee
