MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines needs a “war on pedophiles,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said on Monday.
In a Twitter post, Locsin said he would report the alleged “pedophile trade” in the country before the United Nations.
This as the country’s top diplomat lamented the incidence of pedophilia in the country, which he said was more worrisome than the drug trade.
“All over the country, as I will report to the UN, pedophile trade is rampant, worse than the drug trade because sicker,” he said.
“We need a war on pedophiles and in general men who like young women and little boys,” he added.

His statement came following a Twitter user’s question regarding human traffickers who allegedly victimize young Filipino girls.
“Hindi po ba mahuli huli yang mga human traffickers na yan? Ilang Filipina pa po ba ang mabibiktima bago mawala yang mga yan sa labas ng selda?,” the Twitter user said.
The netizen also reacted to Locsin’s earlier tweet clarifying the deployment ban of newly hired Filipino workers to Tripoli, Libya, and areas within a 100-kilometer radius of the capital due to escalating violence in that country.

“It is a ban on more deployment. Not a forcible evacuation,” he said.
“It is a ban on further profits for assholes in government on the payroll of bad recruiters; like the ones who [traffic] girls from southern Philippines,” he added. /cbb
