Grenade attack hurts 2 in Maguindanao
COTABATO CITY – Unidentified men riding in tandem on a motorbike tossed a hand grenade at a roadside barbecue stall in Sultan Kudarat town of Maguindanao, injuring two vendors on Sunday night, police said.
Police Brig. Gen. Graciano Mijares, police director for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), said the grenade attack came about 7 p.m. in Barangay Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat town, according to the report from Sultan Kudarat municipal police office.
He identified the victims as Bai Urugan Murod, 45, and Rakma Tarim, 47, residents of Barangay Rebuken, who sustained shrapnel injuries on different part of their bodies.
One of two men on a motorcycle had hurled the grenade and sped away, according to investigators.
Mijares on Monday said that personnel of the Sultan Kudarat municipal police office sought the help of local officials and Muslim leaders to identify the perpetrators.
Murod and Tarim are now confined at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) here. /je
