MMDA: Expect more buses along Edsa this Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday warned the public to expect a higher number of buses plying along Edsa this week.

This was the warning raised by MMDA Edsa Traffic head Bong Nebrija as hundreds of buses are set to be deployed by the transportation department in order assist commuters of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) during its weeklong shutdown.

The MRT-3 management announced in March that it would shut down its operations starting Holy Monday, April 15, until Easter Sunday, April 21.

With this, the Department of Transportation said that it would deploy 140 buses to assist the affected motorists.

Aside from this, Nebrija said that the MMDA would also augment 100 buses during the closure of MRT-3 operations.

“We will be providing 100 buses; 50 will be stationed at North Avenue and 50 will be stationed at Pasay, Taft kung saan po yung end station ng MRT-3,” he said in a news forum.

The said buses will load and unload passengers at every MRT-3 station and that the fare matrix used by the MRT-3 management will be followed. /je
