Myanmar man nabbed for P1.8-M theft from Mandaluyong BPO

MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested a man from Myanmar for allegedly stealing P1.8 million from a business process outsourcing (BPO) office in Mandaluyong City on Friday afternoon.

The arrested suspect was identified by the Mandaluyong City police as Zaw Htet Aung, 20, a customer service provider of Global Link Company located along Shaw Boulevard in Barangay Wack-Wack.

According to Police Col. Moises Villaceran Jr. of the Mandaluyong police, Aung was in charge of collections for the company’s account. Police said the suspect was issued a work visa to work in the country.

Villaceran said Aung managed to divert the amount to his personal bank account.

Philip Chua, an employee of the firm, told police that Aung allegedly took the money and planned to spend it on a high-end KTV bar.

Aung is now under police custody as appropriate charges are being readied against him. /muf
