LOOK: Street kids narrate owns stories, experiences through dialogue

MANILA, Philippines–Children from the streets were given an opportunity on Friday to convey their plights and experiences through a dialogue with stakeholders from the national government, local government and non-government organizations (NGOs).

Through the dialogue, organized by a child’s rights NGO Bahay Tuluyan and other organizations, street-connected children tackled concerns on equal treatment, child labor, education, child protection, health disabilities, survival and development, basic needs in life, family connections, participation and freedom, and justice.

Five groups of street-connected children prepared statements and presentations using different medium such as photography, film, theater, paintings, and music to convey their messages.

Stakeholders present during the event are representatives from the Child’s Rights Network (CRN), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Philippine National Police (PNP), United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef), Presidential Human Rights Committee Secretariat, Children’s Welfare Council (CWC), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), among others. /jpv
