SAN PEDRO CITY — The police arrested 130 crime suspects in simultaneous operations within 24 hours in Laguna province, authorities said Friday.
Laguna police spokesperson Police Major Jojo Sabeniano, said in an email that 83 of the 130 suspects were involved in illegal drug use and sale.
The suspects were arrested through buy-bust operations and issuance of warrants during the police campaign called Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) that ended Thursday evening.
Unlike the previous rounds of SACLEO that resulted in a number of suspects getting killed in shootouts, only one suspected drug pusher had died, said Sabeniano.
Reynaldo Genapaga, the lone fatality, died after allegedly resisting arrest in Barangay San Antonio, Binan City around midnight Wednesday.
The police recovered from Genapaga a .38-caliber gun and six sachets containing suspected “shabu” (crystal meth).
The police recovered a total of P182,900 worth of suspected shabu.
The rest of the suspects were arrested for illegal gambling, possession of loose firearms, and other violations. Maricar Cinco
