NPD orders investigation of 2 cops from HQ

The Northern Police District is looking into the possible involvement of two policemen in robbery-hold-up activities after their uniforms and nameplates were found in the hideout of a notorious syndicate in Navotas City.

Inspector Jose Romero Hizon, chief of the investigation unit of the NPD’s investigation and detective management unit, told the Inquirer that a background check on Senior Police Officer 1 Erwin Sese, assigned to the District Public Safety Battalion, and Police Officer 2 Rommel Pamor of the District Headquarters Support Unit, is underway to determine whether or not they had been previously involved in illegal activities.

The move, Hizon said, came after a raid conducted recently by Navotas police on what is believed to be the hideout of the notorious robbery hold-up Abu Group in Barangay (village) Daang Hari, leading to the recovery of nameplates and uniforms purportedly belonging to the two policemen.

Also recovered in the raid were high-powered firearms, explosives and ammunition, including submachine guns, hand grenades and pistols, according to a police report.

The raid also resulted in the arrest of eight suspected members of the group: Carlo Rodriguez alias Carlo Bunas and Bunso or Abu; Julius Genese, alias Julius; Nomer Portugal, alias Nomer; Edward de la Cruz, alias Ewap; Christopher Gozun, alias Chris; Dennis Grande alias Dinnis; Jojo Cipres, alias Jojo; and Neil Andres, alias Neil.

The two policemen are now in a “floating” status pending the results of the investigation.
