P2P buses to replace MRT-3 service as train system gets Holy Week repairs

MANILA, Philippines — Commuters of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) can ride point-to-point (P2P) buses while the train system undergoes maintenance work during Holy Week.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will deploy 140 P2P buses to serve MRT-3 commuters, the train management announced Friday.

These will load and unload passengers at every MRT-3 station from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m on April 15-17 and on April 20-21.

The MRT-3 management said the fare matrix for the P2P buses will be the same as that of the train system.

“Hangad po ng pamunuan ng DOTr at ng MRT-3 ang inyong matiwasay na biyahe habang isinasagawa ang kinakailangang pagmimintina at pagkukumpuni sa ating train system,” the MRT-3 management said in a statement.

The Bus Augmentation Program was made through the initiative of the DOTR, MRT-3, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group, and the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT). /muf
