A total of 339 children and adults in Liloan town in northern Cebu availed of free circumcision and dental services provided by the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. last May 21 at the Panphil D. Frasco Memorial Gym.
More than 200 boys aged six years old and above were circumcised, while a hundred more enjoyed free dental services.
The beneficiaries came from the town’s 14 barangays where the foundation’s microfinance and water system projects are being implemented.
Volunteer surgeons, dentists, nurses, midwives and barangay health workers attended to the patients, while employees from Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc.
provided assistance. The activity, dubbed “Astig Ka, Boy,” was held for the first time in Cebu as a part of the foundation’s primary health and child care program.
The foundation is planning to conduct more medical and dental missions this year.
The Aboitiz Foundation is the corporate foundation of the Aboitiz Group with social development initiatives focused on the areas of education, enterprise development, primary health and child care, and the environment.
