MANILA, Philippines — Stay hydrated and avoid going out between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.,  Health Secretary Francisco Duque III advised the public on Tuesday

This,  after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced that hotter days in the following weeks are to be expected.

“Siguraduhin na sapat ang tubig para maiwasan ang dehydration lalo na ang mga matatanda at mga batang bata, sila ang pinaka-vulnerable sa heat exhaustion,” Duque said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.

He also reminds relatives of elders to offer them drinks in order to combat the heat this dry season.

Aside from this, Duque advised the public not to go out of  their homes, especially between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.  if they don’t have important activities.

Instead of going out, Duque advised people to make use of social media instead.

“Sa dami naman ngayon technological support, pwedeng mag-email, pwedeng magtext, hindi naman na kailangan ikaw ay pumunta pa nang personal doon sa kailangan mong puntahan,” he said.

So far, the Department of Health has yet to record incidents of  heat strokes since the start of dry season in the country, Duque added.  /muf
