COTABATO CITY — Two persons were injured in a grenade attack here Monday night, police said.
Police Col. Michael Lebanan, city police director, said one of the two suspects on motorbike tossed a hand grenade around 7 p.m. Monday night at the house of former overseas Filipino worker Hasan Silongan Zaman, in Malagapas Phase 2 housing project.
A shrapnel hit Zaman in his lower jaw but he was now safe.
“Some residents witnessed the grenade throwing and blocked the fleeing suspects,” Lebanan said.
“One of them hit the motorbike driver with a stone but his companion pulled a cal. 45 pistol and shot Mohammad Ampatuan, one of the responders.”
The two suspects fled leaving behind their motorcycle.
Lebanan said the motive of the attack could be a personal grudge.
