Soldier gunned down in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY – Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed a soldier along the highway in Barangay Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said Pfc. Ellemar T. Bayquin, 25, of the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion, was aboard his Kawasaki Rouser when shot by the suspects.

Police Major Julhamin Asdani, chief of police of Sultan Kudarat town, said the victim sustained two gunshot wounds on his head from a cal. 45 pistol, which resulted in his death.

The victim was a resident of Sitio Tenorio in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao but was assigned in North Cotabato. /ee
