President Duterte will be firing another government official next week, Malacañang said on Thursday.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte himself would announce who would get the axe.
“He will announce it next week. He mentioned it, too, last night during a meeting with some businessmen,” Panelo said in a radio interview.
He did not elaborate.
Just last week, the President announced that he would fire more government officials pending the confirmation of the allegations of corruption against them.
In an event in Koronadal City, South Cotabato province, Duterte said he was just waiting for a report before deciding whether to let go of some officials.
“I vowed to lessen the corruption but I will fire more next week. I am just waiting for [the] report,” he said.
“I told them, ‘You give me your report and if I find it justifiable, you can stay. But if there is corruption, I’m sorry,” he added.
