MANILA, Philippines — Three merchandisers were arrested on Monday for sneaking out grocery items worth P30,000 from the Century City Mall on Kalyaan Avenue in Makati.

The Makati City Police Station identified the suspects as Richard Ryan Picazo, 34; Jeffrey Bascuguin Pereye, 31; and Rooserto Basco Jr., 28.

On Monday afternoon, Picazo and Basco approached a security guard, Jemmar Godito, who was stationed at the customer entrance, and tried to distract him. Meanwhile, Pereye tried to sneak outside with the grocery items.

Godito spotted Pereye, however, and asked for the receipts of the goods. But the suspect failed to present any.

Godito notified the police and the suspects were jailed at the police station pending the filing of qualified theft charges against them. /atm
