MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) is set to undergo “rail grinding” on its northbound tracks from Taft Station to Magallanes Station late Wednesday.

This was announced in a statement by the railway management, who also said the rail grinding activity, which is meant to “control the effects of rail fatigue over time,” would take place April 3 “from 11 p.m. onwards.”

The rail grinding activity “will result in sparks flying off the tracks” between the two stations, according to MRT-3 management.

“Rest assured, however, that the sparks will not fall off to motorists traveling on EDSA northbound since the machine utilizes a safety feature (copper curtains),” it added. /kga
