STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur — A carpenter shot and killed his younger brother and a security guard in Sitio lower Pogpog, Brgy Sibulan early Monday morning.
Police identified the suspect as Jaime Ababon Panerio, 33, single, and resident of Brgy. Tinongtongan, Bansalan. The victims, meanwhile, were identified as Mitchie Ababon Panerio, 28, a farmer; and Elmon Galugas, 31, a security guard.
Initial investigation disclosed that the victims together with their friends were having a drinking session at the house of the suspect’s brother.
Town police chief Captain Mary Grace Martinez said while in the midst of drinking session the suspect arrived, immediately entering by kicking the front door of the house, and mauled his ex-girlfriend identified as Judecel Avergonsado.
She said the suspect then drew his .357 revolver, shot Galugas before shooting his younger brother.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but were declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Martinez said the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police station and is now in jail.
She said jealousy could be the motive behind the incident and cases are now being prepared against the suspect. /kga
