1 dead, 1 hurt in motorcycle crash in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — A man died while a student was injured after their motorcycle hit a concrete pole in Marikina on Wednesday night.

Police identified the victims as John James Calandaria, 29, and Albert Monis, 21.


The victims were aboard motorcycle Yamaha Mio traveling along A. Bonifacio Avenue Barangay Sto. Dela Peña, Marikina City when their vehicle lost control and bumped into a concrete pole.

Both the motorcycle driver and passenger sustained physical injuries and were brought to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for medical treatment.


However, at 10:40 p.m. Calandaria was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.
