Couple arrested, P30k shabu seized in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — A couple was arrested while some P30,000 worth of shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation in Marikina City, Eastern Police District reported Thursday.
Arrested were Jhef Gonzales, 34, alias Jeff, and Kristel Elizabeth Paganpan, 24, alias Angel, both of Barangay Tumana in Marikina City.
The Marikina City Police Station said it received a report that Gonzales and Paganpan were involved in the illegal drug trade.
Members of the Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Unit then launched an operation to apprehend the suspects.
The operatives sent an undercover agent that went to the suspects’ home to transact a drug deal.
After the agent bought a sachet of shabu, police immediately arrested the couple.
Police seized 20 sachets of suspected shabu worth P30,000, one digital weighing scale, marked money worth P500 and one pouch.
The couple was held at the Marikina police detention cell and will be facing a complaint for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. /cbb
