Police officer shot dead on Edsa

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer aboard a motorcycle was shot dead along Edsa near Connecticut St. in Greenhills, San Juan on Tuesday afternoon, the San Juan City Police reported.

Police identified the victim as Police Senior Master Sergeant Solomon Cugay, a police officer from the National Capital Region Police Office.


Cugay was assigned at the Regional Learning Doctrine Development Division of NCRPO in December 2003.

Police Colonel Ariel Fulo of the San Juan City Police said the victim was wearing a jacket. He also confirmed the victim’s death.


“Police officer siya, naka-jacket. naka-dapa. wala na siyang malay,” Fulo told in a phone interview.

Seven empty shell and three deformed slugs were recovered from the crime scene.

According to MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago, the incident happened at about 3 p.m. /muf
