05:00 AM March 26, 2019

Fort San Antonio Abad in Manila was built in 1584 by the Spaniards, but it was captured by British forces when they took over Manila in 1762.

On March 26, 1764, the British authorities formally turned over the fort to Spanish officials.

In 1937, it was marked by the then Historical Research and Markers Committee.

The triangular fortification, located inside the Bangko Sentral complex in Malate, Manila, was named a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines in 2018. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
