PCG rescues 11 crew members from capsized fishing boat

CEBU CITY — Eleven crew members were rescued after their fishing boat sank in the waters between Olango and Caubian islands in Cebu on Sunday afternoon, according to the Philippine Coast Guard Cebu Station.

According to Lt. Cmdr. Alvin Dagalea, PCG Cebu station commander, the distress call came in at 5:20 p.m. saying that an unnamed fishing boat capsized after being battered by big waves.

The PCG immediately deployed the BRP Panglao to conduct search and rescue operations for the 11 crew members.

They were later fished out and brought to Hilton Port in Barangay Marigondon, in mainland Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, said Dagalea quoting the report from the personnel on site. /atm
