Cop arrested for allegedly raping his stepdaughter

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who has been absent without leave (AWOL) since 2006 was arrested Saturday, March 23, for allegedly raping his stepdaughter and inappropriately touching his other one.

According to the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO), 41-year-old PO1 Johnny Ocampo was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant, dated Oct. 21, 2010, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 124 in Caloocan City.

The warrant of arrest was issued on Ocampo for rape, which is a nonbailable offense, and acts of lasciviousness — violations of the Special Protection Against Child Abuse Exploitation and Discrimination Act, or Republic Act No. 7610.

Ocampo was accused of raping his stepdaughter when she was only 14 years old.

He was also accused of touching the private parts of his other stepdaughter when she was 15 years old.

The mother of the two victims reported the incident to the police.

Ocampo was arrested late Saturday, March 23, at the PMP Manmade Paradise Resort in Barangay Nazareth, General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.

The officer was assigned at the Regional Intelligence Division of the Mimaropa Police Regional Office when he went AWOL in 2006.

Ocampo is detained at the Regional Special Operation Unit of the NCRPO. /atm
