Motorcycle rider killed in Isabela road mishap

ECHAGUE, ISABELA–A 36-year-old motorcycle rider died after he was dragged by an air-conditioned bus along the national highway here on Saturday, police said.

Senior Insp. Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson, identified the fatality as John Denver Ramirez of Calao, Alicia, Isabela.

Bus driver Gerome Rillon, 43, of Dipintin, Maddela, Quirino surrendered to authorities.

Investigators said Ramirez was driving along the road shoulder but rammed a road barrier before he was hit by the approaching bus at 11:20 p.m. in Barangay San Fabian.

The victim succumbed to serious body injuries, police said.

Rillon is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
