SAN PEDRO CITY, Philippines – A suspected drug pusher was killed, while two others were wounded in a shootout in Biñan City in Laguna province on Sunday.
Slain in the police operation was Maburak Cabugatan said Laguna police chief Sr. Supt. Eleazar Matta.
According to Matta, Cabugatan sold a sachet of alleged “shabu” to Police Officer 1 Alric Natividad in a buy bust operation past midnight in Barangay San Jose.
He said the suspect must have realized it was an undercover operation as he ran inside his home and took a .38-caliber revolver.
The suspect shot Natividad in the stomach and hit another bystander, forcing other policemen to return fire and kill him.
Matta said Cabugatan died while the wounded remained in the hospital.
Police recovered about 50 grams more of suspected shabu worth P340,000 from the suspect’s sling bag. /cbb
