Bus firm offers free rides for LET takers in Davao

DAVAO CITY — The Davao Metro Shuttle (DMS) has announced on Saturday that it would offer free rides to those who would take the licensure exam for teachers (LET) in Davao City on March 24.

“Davao Metro Shuttle is allowed to transmit all LET examinees to Davao City. Just present your Notice of Admission or any proof to the bus conductor/tress,” the bus firm said in a statement over the weekend.

The company, owned by former Tagum City Rey Uy, decided to offer free rides to LET takers because of the road closure of the Davao-Tagum National Highway for the  2019 Alveo IRONMAN 70.3 Davao event scheduled on the same day.

DMS said four bus units would be deployed to service the routes in the cities of Tagum and Panabo, and Carmen town going to Davao City.

In Tagum, two buses would stand by in front of Landbank Tagum at 3 a.m. Sunday, while one bus will be in front of the Carmen Municipal Hall. They will wait for the examinees around 3:30 a.m.

In Panabo City, another bus will park in front of Maryknoll College of Panabo at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Passengers will be dropped at the Davao City Hall.

In its public advisory, organizers of the 2019 Alveo IRONMAN 70.3 Davao said both directions of Tagum’s Daang Maharlika Highway would be closed from 3 a.m to 12:30 p.m on March 24.

At 10:30 a.m, the southbound direction will be opened for two-way traffic while the northbound direction remains closed until 12:30 p.m.

The riding public can take these alternate road from Tagum City:

– Mabini St.
– Tagum-Panabo Circumferential Road
