ILOILO CITY-At least 43 houses were destroyed while nine others were partially damaged houses when fire broke out in Barangay Bolilao in Mandurriao District here Friday afternoon.
Nine residents were injured but were declared out of danger by responding medical personnel.
Barangay Councilor, Nenita Juson said that prior to the blaze started when an electrical panel in one of the houses got splattered with boiling cooking oil.
The fire spread rapidly to other houses made of easily combustible materials.
Fire also struck the area last year.
Displaced residents are temporarily sheltered at Bolilao Elementary School. /gsg
