Fire Officer I Joyce Sabawatan of Mandaluyong Fire Department said the fire was extinguished at 6:57 p.m.
Two firetrucks arrived at the scene, Sabawatan said.
Judan Repuela, driver of Valenzuela Transport Service Cooperative bus, said all 40 passengers were safely evacuated.
“Biglaan lang po umusok sa likod,” Repuela told INQURIER.net. “Salamat sa diyos walang nasaktan. Pinababa ko sila.”
He said that faulty wiring could be the cause of fire.
Further investigation is ongoing. / gsg
