7-year-old boy hurt in Valenzuela fire

MANILA, Philippines — A 7-year-old boy was injured in a fire that engulfed a residential area in Valenzuela City on Friday, the city’s fire department said.

According to Fire Officer I Melody Candido, the boy suffered first degree burns.


The fire started in Sitio Libis General T. de Leon, Valenzuela City at around 10:20 a.m.

The blaze reached the 5th alarm after 20 minutes, the fire department said.


It was declared under control after an hour and was extinguished at 12:04 p.m.

As of posting, the cause of the fire and the amount of damage have yet to be determined by arson investigators.  /muf
