MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said “a lot” of incumbent senators did not deserve their seats in the Senate, even mentioning a female lawmaker whom he said did nothing but commit “blunder all the way.”
“Diyan sa Senado, there are a lot of those there who should not be there,” Duterte said during the campaign rally of the ruling PDP-Laban party in Marikina.
The President then called out a “sarcastic” female senator whom he said had no brains and did nothing in the upper chamber.
“There is one lady who is eternally sarcastic. Wala namang utak,” the President said without identifying the senator. “Every time she talks, she does not consult a lawyer. She commits blunder all the way. Parang nagmamarunong na aktibista wala namang alam at walang ginawa.”
The President, who is chairman of the PDP-Laban, proceeded to praise his senatorial candidates while also mocking their opposition counterparts.
This was the President’s first campaign sortie appearance since skipping two events in his hometown Davao City last Friday. /atm
