LOOK: Admin bets woo Marikina residents, local officials

MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial candidates endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte, including those from the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Laban ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), courted residents and barangay officials of Marikina in a sortie on Wednesday.

Among the candidates present at the Marikina Hotel and Convention Center were reelectionist Senators Sonny Angara, Cynthia Villar, and JV Ejercito; former Interior Secretary Raffy Alunan; and PDP-Laban bets Senator Koko Pimentel, Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Dong Mangudadatu, former presidential aide Bong Go, and former MMDA chair Francis Tolentino.

President Duterte is expected to deliver a speech later in the day, before the barangay officials from Marikina and Cainta led by Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, Marikina 1st District Rep. Bayani Fernando and Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto.

Aside from the above-mentioned candidates, Duterte is endorsing 12 candidates for the 2019 senatorial elections, with former police chief Ronald dela Rosa, Taguig 2nd District Rep. Pia Cayetano, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, and singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar. /je
