MANILA, Philippines — Three hundred twenty-six establishments have been allowed by the government to operate in Boracay, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, DOT said a total of 11,943 rooms are now accredited.
Of the number, Fairways and Blue Water Resort as well as Savoy Hotel Boracay in Barangay Yapak had the highest number of rooms with 700 and 559, respectively.
Establishments must secure permits and clearances from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources before they could operate in Boracay.
Boracay was shut down for six months to pave the way for its major rehabilitation. It was only reopened on Oct. 26, 2018. /je
