MANILA, Philippines — She may have consistently topped the pre-election surveys but for Senator Grace Poe, the upcoming senatorial election has become “more challenging.”
Poe noted that the results of pre-election surveys were changing and new faces were joining the senatorial derby.
“Although nanatili tayo sa top, kelangang nagsisipag, kelangan mas lalo pa ang trabaho dahil lumalakas din habang nagpapakilala yung iba,” she told reporters when asked about the latest Pulse Asia Survey.
“Syempre nagiging mas challenging yung laban. Mas exciting nga e,” the senator added.
Poe maintained her lead in the Pulse Asia survey conducted from February 24 to 28 survey period with 67.5 percent of respondents voting for her.
She was closely followed by Senator Cynthia Villar with 61 percent and administration bet Christopher “Bong” Go with 53 percent.

Her consistent lead in the surveys though should not be a reason to be complacent, Poe said.
“Nobody can ever be a 100 percent sure until the results are out in the actual elections so you just have to do what you can humanly possible. Para sa akin patuloy ang aking pag-iikot,” she said.
Asked about the prospect of Go taking over her lead in the senatorial race, Poe said she would just leave it to voters to make that decision.
“Basta ang importante, ang manaig yung gusto ng tao, walang dayaan, patas ang labanan,” she said.
“Kung sino man yun, e di yun. Hidi mo naman pwedeng sabihin, hindi, ayoko… Tao ang pipili e,” Poe further said.
Poe is an independent candidate while Go and Villar are running under President Rodrigo Duterte’s PDP-Laban and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago. /ac
