MRT-3 unloads passengers after train emits smoke

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) has unloaded around 645 passengers after the train was spotted emitting smoke at the Araneta-Cubao and Santolan interstation.

According to the management of the MRT-3, the smoke was reported at around 6:02 p.m.

Passengers were unloaded from the carriage with the assistance of the train driver and security personnel.

The affected train regained traction at around 6:35 p.m. and was moved to the pocket track at Shaw Boulevard station as normal operations resumed.

The management said it is currently investigating the incident and apologized to its passengers for the inconvenience. /ee
