Signal No. 1 raised over more areas due to ‘Chedeng’
MANILA, Philippines — More areas were placed under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression “Chedeng” kept its strength early Monday.
Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao del Sur, Davao City, Davao Occidental, Southern part of Davao del Norte including Samal Island, Eastern part of North Cotabato and eastern part of Sarangani were put under storm signal, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Chedeng packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 60 kph. it moved westward at 15 kph.
The weather disturbance was last spotted 650 kilometers east of Davao City and it remained at sea.
Chedeng’s trough, however, will bring scattered to at times widespread moderate to heavy rain to Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, and Davao del Norte on Monday and in most parts of Mindanao by Tuesday.
Pagasa said it was looking at the possibility of a landfall over the eastern coast of Davao on Tuesday. /cbb
