Storm poised to enter the PAR Sunday afternoon — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A tropical depression that the weather bureau has been monitoring is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) early Sunday afternoon.

In its 11 a.m. report, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the tropical depression was last spotted 980 kilometers east of Mindanao.

The weather disturbance was still packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness near the center of 60 kph.

It is moving west at 23 kph.

Once the storm enters the PAR, it will be named “Chedeng.” /cbb
