MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a 29-year-old unemployed woman after she tried to sell online a helmet that she allegedly stole from a courier in Marikina City.
Police said 26-year-old Alan Alfonso parked his motorcycle outside a store in the city, where he picked up a box of beauty products for delivery last Friday afternoon.
However, when he returned to his bike, his helmet that he hung on the side mirror of the motorcycle was gone.
Alfonso checked the surveillance footage of the establishment and saw woman take his helmet.
Police later identified the woman as Ma. Genalyn Biador.
The driver then took to the online community board Marikina News to seek help in finding his stolen helmet.
A concerned citizen then informed Alfonso that a helmet similar to his was being sold in a Facebook group called Marikina News Buy and Sell.
He checked the post and found that it was his helmet.
Alfonso then sent a message to the seller and told her that he was interested in buying the helmet.
On Saturday, when Biador met with Alfonso in front of St. Peter’s Funeral Homes along Balubad Street in Barangay Nangka, Marikina City, members of the Marikina City Police Station were also there to arrest her. /cbb
